Advanced Orchestra is for students at an intermediate to advanced level. The Youth Symphony rehearses once a week and plays intermediate to early advanced orchestral and string literature.
Training Orchestra is for students who have had two or more years of training on an instrument and are currently studying music with a private instructor. The Training Orchestra rehearses once a week and plays beginning through intermediate orchestral literature.
Both ensembles are unique in that parents who play an instrument often join in and contribute to the ensemble. In addition, Youth Symphony members are also encouraged to play with and mentor Training Orchestra musicians.
Beginning Orchestra is a strings ensemble intended for beginning students. This new orchestra rehearses once a week during First Rehearsal (Training Orchestra rehearsal time). The orchestra participates in one or two musical numbers with the Training Orchestra for each concert. This ensemble requires a minimum of 10 students. Each student must be must be at least 8 years old.
Performance Group is our newest ensemble beginning this year, that is a subset of the Cherry Creek Youth Symphony. This group will have an extra rehearsal on a weekday once a month and will play additional performances.
Percussion Class is required of all percussionists for both orchestras. Percussion class will be held prior to First Rehearsal. Cherry Creek Youth Symphony is blessed with a number of fine percussion instruments and students will be taught how to play and take proper care of the instruments.
